Grace Meng: Ready to Make More History in New York

New York Assemblywoman Grace Meng of Queens has an impressive list of superlatives already under her belt: she’s the only Asian-American currently serving in the New York State Legislature, as well as the youngest Asian-American ever elected there. She is the first Asian-American appointed to hold a cabinet position in her state’s Black, Puerto Rican, Hispanic, and Asian Caucus. If elected, Grace will be the first Asian-American to serve New York in Congress.

Already a trailblazer, Grace inspires high praise for her dedication to public service. As he was nominating her for endorsement by the Queens County Democratic Organization, Councilman Mark Weprin said, “It is rare in this business to meet someone like Grace Meng. She’s hard not to love and she has character, commitment and confidence without a hint of arrogance.” State Senator Toby Ann Stavisky agreed: “Grace, it seems to me, you are the future of the Democratic Party.”

For those who know Grace’s tireless advocacy, these accolades don’t come as a surprise. From introducing legislation that ensures infants receive the prescription formula they need, to protecting seniors from the burden of ever-rising property taxes, Grace works for a better quality of life of all New Yorkers. And she’s not afraid to stand up for what’s right: Grace took on Rush Limbaugh after his offensive imitation of the Chinese president, and she authored a law that fights the tragedy of human trafficking.

Grace has already made history in her political career, and we can’t wait to see what she accomplishes next when elected to Congress.
