Zach and Travis

The U.S. Supreme Court just ruled the core of the Affordable Care Act to be constitutional, and I could not be more relieved for my own family and for the millions of Americans who cannot afford health insurance.

You see, after 25 years as an attorney, community activist and advocate for New Hampshire families, the word that best describes me is Mom.

As I was waiting for the Supreme Court to rule on access to affordable health care for those who cannot afford health insurance, I had just one thought on my mind - what do you do when the phone rings and you hear the words: "there's been an accident."

Brad and I have two sons - Zach and Travis - who are covered by our health insurance under the Affordable Care Act. When Travis broke his leg, Brad and I could focus on his healing, knowing that he had access to affordable care.

And I know that every American family - including the millions who cannot afford health insurance - needs to focus on health and healing, too.

I know as a Mom.

I will work hard in Congress to ensure that you and your family can focus on your health and healing, too.
